In SUN's traditional markets of Russia and India, the Energy sector continues to offer significant opportunities, which also act as a bridgehead to similar opportunities in other emerging markets, such as West Africa.

SUN Group's investment activities in both the development of operating companies and natural resource private equity funds is based upon its investment in a significant equity position in Russia's largest private natural gas producer, Itera, as well as in a joint-venture to develop gas and LNG operations in asset-rich emerging markets and demand driven major economies, including the FSU, India, Africa and Asia. This joint venture, Suntera, was created as a platform for enabling rapid indigenization in transforming markets.

Integrated gas projects have historically been the domain of the oil and gas majors, but National Oil Companies (NOCs) and emerging regional players are seeking a more active role in developing such projects as they exercise increasing control of their own resource base. Suntera works with these NOCs and regional players as a constructive partner bringing technical expertise, commercial structuring solutions, and established resource-to-market relationships.
